Purification – Uninterrupted flow of Maa Ganga and protection of melting glaciers
In Hinduism, the river Ganges is considered sacred and is personified as a goddess known as Ganga. It is worshipped by Hindus who believe that bathing in the river causes the remission of sins and facilitates Moksha(liberation from the cycle of life and death) the water of Ganga is considered very pure. Pilgrims immerse the ashes of their kin in the Ganges, which is considered by them to bring the spirits closer to moksha.
At present holly Ganga is become a carriage of sewer and Industrial wastage only and continually is being polluted because of said reasons and due to control its flow by making Dams after every few Kilometres, it is submitted that which Ganga was giving oxygen to all breathing persons in India for last 5000 years now comes in ventilator and her existences is under threat now.
apart of above mentioned problem global warming, unplanned urbanization and mass tourisms is also a serious threat to the existence of maa Ganga the environment of Uttarakhand has been degraded up to extreme limit. The temperatures are increasing by the month and the glaciers including GOMUKH GLACIERS are melting at alarming speed.
That, As per the report “Snow and Glaciers of the Himalayas: Inventory and Monitoring” released by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) in 2011, out of 2700 glaciers which are monitored, 2184 are retreating, 435 are advancing and 148 glaciers show no change
